Last month, we were following the Blue Tit family that took up residence in a nest box in Mr. Peter Gordons garden, fit with webcam etc...
To our surprise all but one of the chicks died suddenly, and the 1 remaining chick remained in the nest, being fed by 1 lone parent. It successfully fledged, and is still seen occasionally visiting the garden.
This weekend, Peter cleared out the nest box, in the hope that it will be used again next year... and discovered one of the bodies... (look away if you are squeemish)
