Stonechats overwinter at Fairlop Waters, Five Oaks Lane and Wanstead Flats, and occasionally elsewhere in the borough.

2010/2011 Winter sightings: 9 birds present (up to Dec 31st 2010)

• Fairlop Gravel Works: 1 (recorded on 1 date)
• Five Oaks Lane Scrubland: 5 (3m, 2f) (recorded on 6 dates)
• Wanstead Flats: 3 (recorded on 19 dates)

2009/2010 Winter Sightings: 8 birds present

• Fairlop Gravel Works - 1 (recorded on 1 date)
• Fairlop Waters - 2 (1m, 1f) (recorded on 5 dates)
• Wanstead Flats - 5 (recorded on 23 dates)

2008/2009 Winter Sightings: 3 birds present

• Fairlop Waters - 2 (1m, 1f) (recorded on 6 dates)
• Wanstead Flats - 1 (1m) (recorded on 2 dates)
