As with most costal waders, Curlew sightings are unusual in the borough, and are therefore few and far between.

Historical Information:
- Curlew are reported as having been present (but less than five times) at Hainault Forest pre 2003 by the late Mr. Mike Dennis
- Curlew have been recorded flying over Wanstead Flats some years ago (date unknown)
- In the 1997 edition of Dominic Mitchells 'Where to watch birds in the London area', Curlew are listed as a 'passage wanderer' at Fairlop Waters.
