Yellow Wagtails are seen during Migration in Spring and Autumn, particularly at Fairlop and Wanstead Flats

  • Five Oaks Lane Scrubland: 3

2010 Breeding: 2 unconfirmed pairs

  • Fairlop Gravel Works: pr present throughout, seen collecting food
  • Five Oaks Lane: male seen gathering food during June

2010 Spring Passage: up to 67

  • Fairlop Waters/Gravel Works: 58
  • Wanstead Flats: 8
  • Five Oaks Lane Scrubland: 1
2009 Autumn Passage: up to 43
  • Fairlop Waters/Gravel Works: 21
  • Wanstead Flats: 21
  • Hainault Forest: 1
2009 Spring Passage: up to 27
  • Fairlop Waters: 25
  • Wanstead Flats: 2

Historical Information:

  • Yellow Wagtails were reported in 2003 by the late Mr. Mike Dennis as being a former breeding bird in Hainault Forest
  • In the 1997 edition of Dominic Mitchells 'Where to watch birds in the London area', Yellow Wagtails are listed as a breeding bird at Fairlop(a few pairs)
