Coal Tit: Resident Breeding

Coal Tits are resident in Knighton Wood, Reeds Forest, Claybury Park, Wanstead Park, Hainault Forest, and are occasionally seen elsewhere in the borough. In winter they frequent gardens with hanging bird feeders.

Historical Info:

  • In the 1997 edition of Dominic Mitchells 'where to watch birds in the London area' it states breeding Coal Tits were 'widespread' in Hainault Forest
  • in 2003, there were 15 breeding pairs in Hainault Forest
