GOSHAWK

Goshawk: Rare Visitor

Goshawk often pass through, and sometimes linger in nearby Epping Forest for sometime. A lot of the sighings over the last few years may well be an escaped bird that has been recorded from Edmonton to Epping Forest

Latest Sightings:

2010: 10 sightings
  • March 20th, 1 male at Fairlop Gravel Works
  • April 5th, 1 female at Woodford Green
  • April 6th, 1 male at Fairlop Gravel Works
  • April 21st, 1 in Woodford Green
  • August 7th, 1 in Wanstead Park
  • August 13th, 2 in Wanstead Park
  • September 17th, 1 male on Wansead Flats
  • December 8th, 1 male at Woodford Green
  • December 27th, 1 male in Wanstead Park
2009: 6 sightings
  • 29th November 2009, 1 male over Woodford Green
  • 3rd May 2009, 1 female through Woodford Green (no jessies)
  • 23rd April 2009, 1 over Wanstead Park (escaped bird)
  • 30th March 2009, 1 at Fairlop (escaped bird)
  • 29th March 2009, 1 over Claybury Park (probable escaped bird)
  • 3rd March 2009, 1 flew low and south over Whitehall Plain at 11.25am. A Goshawk, possibly the same one, was also seen at 12.15 in central London at St. James' Park, although there is some speculation that this is an escaped bird.
2008:
  • 30th July 2008, 1 flew over Wanstead.
