GREAT TIT

Great Tit: Resident Breeding (common)

Great Tits are a common and familiar sight and sound throughout the borough, in parks, woodlands, gardens, and anywhere else!. Several hundred pairs breed in the borough, and therefore listing the sightings would be a full time job.

Historical Breeding Stats. (incomplete)

2006 Breeding Stats:

  • Wanstead Park, 51 singing males (20th May, TH)
  • Gilberts Slade, 46 singing males (17th May)

Historical Information:

  • In the 1997 edition of Dominic Mitchells 'where to watch birds in the London area' it states that census work showed that there were 60 Breeding pairs in Hainault Forest
