Fairlop Gravel Works:
  • Egyptian Goose flew SE over the site (patch tick)
  • 3 Wigeon and 3 Teal
  • 8 (mostly young) Grey Herons (same thing happened last year at this time... dispersed young using the site to feed)
  • c120 Lapwing, 2 Green Sandpipers, 4 adult Little Ringed Plover
  • 4 Stock Dove
  • Yellow Wagtail
  • 4 Linnet, female Reed Bunting (DEH)

Wanstead Flats:

  • (06:30-11:00):
  • Whimbrel (south over Alexandra Lake), (first sighting of the year in the borough)
  • Peregrine Falcon (which did a much better job of scaring the gulls than all the dog walkers - 100th site tick in 2 years for the flats and park [93 for 2010]),
  • Kestrel
  • 65 Cormorant, 40 + Black-headed Gull, 18 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 6 Herring Gull, 4 Common Gull, 1 Greater Black-backed Gull,
  • c. 20 Mistle Thrush, 4 Song Thrush,
  • 8 Ring Necked Parakeet (North),
  • 10 Green Woodpecker (including 3 young), 5 Greater Spotted Woodpecker,
  • 14+ House Martin in one group, greatly reduced Swift numbers,
  • 4 Greylag Goose (Jubilee pond),
  • 3 Stock Dove, 2 Collared dove, 16 Magpie, 4 Jay, c.20+ Jackdaw,
  • Little Grebe (with 2 young on Alexandra Lake south side),
  • Reed Bunting and others (49 species again) (Nick Croft)
