Fairlop Waters CP:
  • over 100 Lapwing on the gravel island
  • 2 Grey Heron, 1 Cormorant
  • 3 Little Grebe
  • 45 Teal (25 on the Scrape, 20 on the lagoon)
  • 40+ Tufted Duck, Mallard, Coot, Moorhen, Canada Goose, Mute Swan
  • Snipe (by the scrape)
  • 25 Fieldfare
  • 1 female Kestrel hunting round the lake
  • Song Thrush.
Roding Valley Park, Woodford Bridge:
  • Kingfisher (Alan Hobson)


  • Eddie Barnes, garden sightings
  • 2 Coal Tits
  • 5+ Goldfinches
  • Great Spotted Woodpecker
  • House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Blue and Great Tit, Robin, Dunnock, Starling, Wood Pigeon, Collared Dove and Magpie, and Blackbirds attracted to the lake that's now appeared. (No greenfinches so far this autumn).

South Woodford:

  • Sparrowhawk being chased by a Carrion Crow this morning (PGordon)

Woodford Green:

  • flooded playing field on Broadmead Estate has attracted over 100 Gulls (Lesser Black Backed, Common, Herring and mostly Black Headed) and also 20 Mallards swimming on the flood! (DEH)
  • Great Spotted Woodpecker on the Silver Birch in the garden (Peter Warne)
  • 1 Grey Wagtail by Barkingside Methodist Church (Nigel May)
