Fairlop Waters CP:
  • 9 Cormorant (4 on the jetty, and 5 over)
  • 61 Lapwing (mostly taking advantage of the newly gravelled-over island!
  • 4 adult and 5 juvenile Mute Swan
  • 28 Canada Geese (vastly depleted flock!!! ???), 2 Greylag Geese
  • 49 Tufted Duck, 36 Mallard
  • 30 Teal (on the lagoon)
  • 8 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Little Grebe
  • 122 Coot, 31 Moorhen
  • 68 Black Headed Gulls, 21 Common Gulls on the lake
  • Lesser Black Backed Gull and Herring Gulls (over)
  • Male Sparrowhawk moving through the trees in the fenced off wildlife area by Forest Road
  • Kestrel hunting over the golf course
  • 4 Goldfinch,2 Chaffinch, 4 Greenfinch,
  • 4 Green Woodpecker
  • c20 Wood Pigeon, 1 Stock Dove (over), Collared Dove & Feral Pigeon near the stables
  • c6 Carrion Crow, c5 Magpie, 2 Jay, 4 Starlings
  • c20 Blue Tit, c4 Great Tit, c40 Long Tailed Tit (4 parties of 10)
  • c9 Robin, 5 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing, c12 Blackbird, 2 Dunnock,
  • female Stonechat behind the lagoon on the plain towards St. Peters Aldborough Hatch, and the male was calling from near the east end of the Lagoon, where at least 1 Reed Bunting was also calling,
  • 2 Pied Wagtail, 2 Meadow Pipit over the plain
Fairlop, Hainault Farm Lake (the spit):
  • 7 Grey Heron
  • 2 Teal
  • 2 Little Grebe
  • Chiffchaff calling
Fairlop, Hainault Farm:
  • flock of about 40 Starlings by the entrance on Hainault Road
Fairlop Quarry:
  • a short walk up Footpath 86 before it stated raining produced a marvellous low flying Buzzard
  • Skylark (heard)
  • 9 Long Tailed Tits with a couple of Blue Tits
  • Carrion Crows and Magpies
Fairlop Gravel Works, North side:
  • 2 Mute Swans, 2 Shoveler, c30 Gadwall, c20 Tufted Duck, c10 Mallard, c15 Pochard, c10 Teal, 10 Coot, 5 Moorhen
  • 2 Snipe
  • another party of Long Tailed Tits
  • Merlin flashed low through the site
  • 2 Kestrels both seen hovering, and perching on lamp columns (one on Painters Road, and one on Hainault Road)
Fairlop Gravel Works, South Side:
  • too dark to see much, but I wanted to see if any Golden Plover had arrived, which they had not!
  • 100+ Lapwing, 2 Snipe
  • 2 Mute Swans, 30 Canada Geese, 2 Teal, 5 Moorhen
Valentines Park, Ilford:
  • adult Medeterranean Gull, Common Gull, Black Headed Gull,
  • 2 Egyptian Geese, 2 Greylag Geese,
  • 5 Cormorant,
  • Mute Swan family of 7,
  • Shoveler, Pochard, Gadwall, Little Grebe
  • 2 Grey Wagtails, Pied Wagtail, Kingfisher,
  • 2 Mistle Thrush,
  • Grey Heron (MAW)
  • plus: Canada geese, Coots, Moorhens,Cormorant, Mallard, Tufted duck
  • Blue tit,Long-tailed tit, Greenfinch, House sparrow

Valentines Mansion:

  • Wren
