Knighton Woods:
  • 6 Mandarin (4m 2f), Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Nuthatch.
South Park:
  • 2 Greylag Geese with the Canada Geese.
  • Pochard and Tufted Duck.
  • 3 Redwing and a Mistle Thrush on the field.
Fairlop Waters:
  • Shelduck, Gadwall, Teal, Pochard, Tufted Duck, Little Grebe on the southern works site
  • 2 GCGrebe on the main lake,
  • Water Rail flushed from the landfill.
  • Lapwing, 20 Golden Plover, 13 Snipe, Green Sandpiper on the southern works site.
  • 14 Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Reed Bunting and 4 Fieldfare around the works.
  • male Kestrel hunting.
  • 2 Great Black Backed Gulls with the Lesser Black Backed, Herring, Common and Black Headed Gulls.
  • 2 Brown Hare!
Woodford Green:
  • Kestrel flying over Beale School (JMak)
Hainault Recreational Ground:
  • Flock of about 50 Fieldfare and Redwing, near Forest Road.
Ilford:
  • Merlin around the green between Belmont Road and Winston Way in Ilford and being chased around by crows high above the high road near Linton House. (Brian Smith)
Wanstead Park:
  • Nuthatch heard in Resevoir Wood. (TH)
  • pair of Red Crested Pochard re-emerged.... must have been hidingfor a week!. (TH)

I'm prepared to be corrected as to whether it's a Merlin or not. Thought it was more likely to be a Sparrowhawk until I saw it in flight. Have seen it several times in the morning on the green and on top of the street lights there. Also have seen lots of aerial combat - gulls vs crows - over the railway hangar between Ilford and Seven Kings. Come on the crows!
