Fairlop Waters CP:


  • **Slavonian Grebe** in the NW corner of the Boating Lake (Steve Bacon)
  • This is the first site record for 10 years+
  • 150 Fieldfare, 40 Redwing
  • 2 Sparrowhawk
  • 15 Skylark
  • Woodcock

Hainault:

  • c20 Lapwings in Fairlop Primary School Playground (Colvin Gardens/Tomswood Hill).

Gants Hill:

  • garden sightings
  • Dunnock - 1
  • Coal Tit - "Yes finally come back to visit" seen first at 10.19am then again during BTO hour survey feeding from feeders.
  • Grey Heron - Flying past low just a couple feet over garden fence probably checking out our pond to no avail as there are no fish in it closely followed by a Carrion Crow and then two Magpies.
  • Blue tits - 5, Great tits - 2, Robin - 1, House Sparrows - 10, Starlings - 5, Chaffinches - 6, Greenfinches - 7, Magpie - 1, Goldfinch - 1, Feral Pigeons - 9, Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 male, Blackbird - 1 Female

Wanstead Park:

  • female Goldeneye still
  • Snipe, Kingfisher, 5+ Siskin
  • Grey Wagtial
  • Tawny Owl
  • (JL/TH)

Wanstead:

  • Nuthatch in St Mary's Churchyard (TH/JL)

Wanstead Flats:

  • 2 Little Grebe
  • 6 Lapwing,
  • 36 Skylark,
  • 130+ Common Gull, 25 Lesser Black-backed Gulls,
  • 23 Redwing (mostly in flight),
  • 8 Meadow Pipit,
  • 3 Green Woodpeckers (S Fisher);
  • plus m Goosander flew NW @ ~9am,
  • 2 Stonechat (J Lethbridge)

Hainault Farmland:

  • famle Kestrel perched on a bush near City Limits

Roding Valley Nature Reserve: (just outside the borough)

  • 3 Wigeon, 8 Gadwall, 6 Shoveler, 8 Pochard,
  • 30 Lapwing; 19 Fieldfare; 31 Redwing. (BJ)

Chigwell Convent: (just outside the borough)

  • c10 Redwing

Barking Park: (just outside the borough)

  • Little Egret (PVaughn)

Epping Forest, Loughton Camp: (just outside the borough)

  • 3 Bramblings (APe)
  • Firecrest, Goldcrest, 2 Nuthatch, 2 Treecreepers, 3 Coal tits, 10 Redwings. (IW)

Chingford: (just outside the borough)

  • female Blackcap in garden (IWoodward)

Woodford Bridge:

  • c40 Lapwing flying over from Claybury Park (AHobson)
