For the last few days the Great Crested Grebes have been swimming all over the Valentines Park Boating Lake, the chick endlessly "ch-ch-ch-cheeping"after his parents in a demand for food. The two adults have been together most of the time and I have not seen any more activity under the Alder tree where they were starting to nest. Perhaps they have decided to call it a day... Today was busy: the Grebes rushing about feeding the chick; a Little Grebe bobbing about; a Heron on what I call Swan Island (one wondered if it was one of the Valentine family!); Heron and Swans later joined by a Cormorant...
