Aldborough Riding School, Fairlop:
- Little Owl at the nest site
- Pheasant calling (DEH)
Fairlop Gravel Works:
- 2 pairs of Mute Swan (1 pr each side of Painters Road, but no breeders)
- Many Canada Geese, (2 'nurseries), one each side of the road, the south side having up to 8 familes, the north side having 2 or 3
- New 1 day old Mallard family with 4 ducklings
- very young family of Pochard with 6 ducklings (north side)
- 30 Herring Gulls (mostly 1st year birds)
- 2 Great Crested Grebe, Grey Heron and Cormorant (north side)
- 5 Gadwall, male Shoveler, 20 Tufted Duck, 1 Shelduck,
- 2 female Teal (early returning birds - presume non breeders)
- 11 Lapwing, (some ferociously guarding young which i could not see
- 2 Little Ringed Plovers, 2 Redshank (both guarding territories)
- 6 Stock Dove (3 pairs)
- 4 Swallow, 6 Sand Martin
- pair of Yellow Wagtail still present (breeding presumed)
- 2 singing Skylark
- Whitethroat, Blackcap,
- 9 Reed Warbler! (all on the north side....) 1 singing male at the north end of the lagoon, 1 pair at the south-west corner, another 2 pairs in the centre of the south side of the lagoon, one of whom were feeding 2 fledged young (sitting in a bush).
- Singing Sedge Warbler
- 6 Linnet, several Greenfinch and Chaffinch too
- 2 male Reed Bunting (DEH)
Fairlop Waters CP:
- 50 Swift, 4 House Martin, Swallow
- displaying Whitethroat, singing Willow Warbler
- Reed Bunting (TLachhar)
Goodmayes Park:
- 2 Mute swan (again hidden under island - didn't manage to see any cygnets at all this time),
- 19 Canada Geese, 2 Greylag Geese, 22 Tufted Duck, 25 Mallard,
- 2 Great spotted woodpeckers (1 at nest hole - though couldn't hear any young),
- 7 Linnets (Rec Ground). (IWoodward)
Goodmayes, Station:
- 1 Sparrowhawk (f) over (Ian Woodward)
Hainault Forest CP:
- 1 Mute Swan (other possibly on nest, but cannot confirm breeding here)
- 5 families of Canada Geese in a nursery (with 10, 9, 5, 3 and 2 young)
- Coot on nest (husband still building!)
- 2 Tufted Duck
- Jackdaws all over di place. (DEH)
Ray Park:
- 3 Lesser Black Backed Gulls (TLachhar)
South Woodford:
- Goldfinch on a telephone wire - first in ages (PGordon)
Valentines Park:
- Great Crested Grebes still on 2 eggs
- Grey Heron family have finally fledged 1 chick - who has taken off into the big wide world - the other 2 are still there. (more pics tomorrow) (GWare)
- over 100 Carrion Crows together looking menacing. (DEH)
