Today it was the Great Crested Grebe chick's turn to be followed by two gulls: every time he shot out of the water with a catch they closed in on him, but he defeated them by swiftly diving back down again! He also repeated his "scooting" over the surface of the water- a rapid, long scoot. This time he seemed to do it on his own accord- perhaps as a flying exercise? Inspite of all this adult behaviour, however, he was still searching out hisparents and hovering near them cheeping...
