Fairlop Waters CP:
- 7-8pm
- Mute Swan on the lagoon island still on nest
- 4 Broods of Canada Geese on the boating lake with 9, 2, 7 and 1 goslings respectively.
- 1 Brood of Greylag Geese with only 1 gosling (couldnt locate the brood with 10)
- new day-old brood of Mallards with 8 ducklings
- 1 male Pochard on the Lagoon, 9 Tufted Ducks (fishing lake)
- 4 Little Grebe on the lagoon, 2 trilling males
- Pheasant calling
- 2 Green Woodpecker
- Kestrel hovering over the golf course
- 10 Sand Martin, 4 Swallow, c20 Swift and a House Martin lickin up gnats over the baoting lake
- 3 Yellow Wagtails actually feeing in the trees and bushes on the lake bank, by the club house (2 males and 1 female)
- male Reed Bunting
- 5 singing Chiffchaff, 4 singing Willow Warbler, many Blackcap and Whitethroat (DEH)
Valentines Park:
- sad news - the remaining Egyptian Goose ducking appears to have been killed (Mike Condon)
- It was seen being attacked by Carrion Crows yesterday, only just managing to escape death by making it to the water, Today its body was found on the Lakeside path. Couldn't locate adults. (Peter Hopkins)
Wanstead Flats:
- (09:30-12:00): Hobby over south (may have been the same bird seen later over Forest Gate station at 1:20),
- Buzzard being mobbed by c20 crows,
- 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 3 Chiffchaff, numerous Whitethroat, 4 Blackcap,
- c.20 Swift, 1 Swallow, 4 Sand Martin,
- 6 Black-headed Gulls (first for a long time) plus the usuals (Nick C)
Wanstead Park:
- 6 House Martins over the plain (evening) (Tim Harris)
