Woodford Bridge:
  • 4 Canada Geese with the regular Mallards and Moorhens on the pond by St. Pauls Church this morning, (first time I've seen them here this year so far).

Roding Valley Park:

  • Little Egret on the riverbank near Woodford Bridge. (seen while driving by) (DEH)
  • Kingfisher by the footbridge, Woodford Bridge (Alan Hobson)
  • Kestrel above the A406 near Redbrige Roundabout. (DEH)

Woodford:

  • 6 Redwing by Woodford Library. (Alan Hobson)
Wanstead Park:
  • 6 Mute Swans ( 2 on Ornamental Waters, 2 on Perch Pond and 2 on the Basin)
  • 18 Canada Geese, mostly on Ornamental Waters.
  • 69 Mallard, 76 Tufted Duck, 22 Gadwall, 16 Shoveler
  • only 7 Pochard left!.....
  • 5 Little Grebe, (3 on Heronry Pond and 2 on the Basin)
  • 1 Great Crested Grebe on the Basin.
  • 2 Grey Heron on Perch Pond
  • 152 Coot and 41 Moorhen.
  • Beautiful Water Rail showing very well on the far side of Heronry Pond, swimming along the edge about 1/2 the length of the pond.
  • Grey Wagtail around the shore of Heronry Pond.
  • 3 Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker and...
  • 2 Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers (one drumming) and showing well on Lincoln Island
  • at least 4 Song Thrushes in song.... also Blackbirds, Robins and Wrens.
  • Large numbers of Blue tits, Great Tits, Long Tailed Tits and Goldcrests and 2 Greenfinch.
  • Nuthatch calling on Rook Island/Lincoln Island.
  • Large roost of Carrion Crows and Jackdaws, between 50 and 100 of each, in the trees separating Wanstead Golf Course and the ponds.
  • over 400 Gulls flying north to roost.
  • Pied Wagtail over the Basin.
  • Also: Jay, Wood Pigeon, Collared Dove, Magpie,
  • Tawny Owl calling fron Lincoln Island at dusk.

Claybury Park:

  • Tawny Owl (Alan Hobson)
