- 200 Lapwing (PVaughan)
South Woodford, High View Road:
- female Sparrowhawk in the garden (DLittlejohns)
- "about 11am the feral pigeons were too occupied eating to notice her and she took one as we watched, carried it 5 metres away across the lawn to pluck and kill, while the pigeon made noises I have not heard from a pidgeon - would have done for a magpie.
At which, two magpies came out of the Forest behind the garden (Gilberts Slade) and mobbed the sparrowhark, which lost its concentration and let the pigeon go (minus a few neck feathers). We could not see the end of the story, which ended noisily with the pidgeon flying off towards another garden, pursued by an irritated sparrowhawk, in turn tailed by the two magpies, expressing indignation."
